Mary Labor, Administrative Assistant / Marketing
Mary wears many hats in the daily operations of our office. With her wide range of skills, Mary has truly been an asset to running the back of the house, from accounting, marketing, to technical support. Having raised their three children in Steamboat Springs over the past 21 years, she has been a valuable resource for clients new to Steamboat who are seeking guidance in many areas of the Steamboat community and lifestyle. Born and raised in central Wisconsin, she hold a BA Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Wisconsin. Mary was introduced to the Rocky Mountains while in college by working summers in Glacier National Park. Upon graduation in 1985 the mountains were calling and she found her way to Copper Mountain, CO after a few months working in Whitefield, NH. At Copper Mountain, she started in lodging services and was soon appointed Resort Reservations Supervisor. In 1988 she was awarded "Supervisor of the Year" for both Copper Mountain and the statewide Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association. Her experience and insight led to involvement on a team in the development of a new hotel reservation and guest accounting system. Soon after, she was offered a position within the IT department at Copper Mountain to be the liaison between computer system users and the programming team - combining technical knowledge and communication skills. After a time in Hidden Valley, PA with young children the Rocky Mountains beckoned again, and a relocation to Whitefish, MT ensued. While there, Mary was employed at InvesTech Research, a subscription investment newsletter, applying her skills in journalism, editing, research, organization and attention to detail. There she gained exposure to the world of Wall Street, attained General Securities Representative licensing and was appointed New Accounts and Customer Relations Manager for the money management arm of InvesTech; Stack Financial Management. Just after the birth of their youngest daughter, the family relocated to Steamboat Springs which was a dream in the making. While raising three children in this incredible community she became very involved in the schools and many years of fundraising, committees and projects, and in 2009 was presented the "Friend of Education" award for her years of service. Mary has held various positions as a "virtual assistant" to a number of clients, handling bookkeeping and administrative tasks that run the gamut from tax organization, portfolio tracking and home management. Mary has also managed personal businesses, including a nightly rental property at the ski area, and a self storage facility. Mary couldn't be happier enjoying all that Steamboat has to offer and its active lifestyle community. While not juggling the many balls of her day to day responsibilities, she can often be found sneaking in some time with her husband Doug and friends for skiing, hiking, camping, golfing, road biking, yoga, and most recently has discovered the world of Pickleball.
